Managing Holiday Stress

The holidays can be a stressful time of year, whether you choose to celebrate them or not. Here are some pointers for surviving the season:

  • Set realistic expectations for yourself and your family, as well as set healthy boundaries to help you manage stress. Try to avoid over committing yourself!

  • Prioritize self-care with activities you enjoy, physical activity, plenty of rest and good nutrition. Maintain a regular sleep pattern by trying to get up and go to bed within an hour of the same time every day.

  • Stay connected with supportive friends, community, and family.

  • Practice mindfulness, take time for self reflection and gratitude.

  • Don’t be afraid to say No! Whether it be to that cocktail, another holiday party, a family get together, or the myriad of holiday treats!

Your mental health matters. Do not hesitate to reach out for professional help if needed.

There are several crisis lines listed under the Resources section on this website, as well as the mental health emergency number 988.

Wishing you peace and good health!❄️☃️
